There is no official Festival of the Lost in 2026, and Bungie has not announced a Dawning for December 2026, because Destiny 2 retired its seasonal events with the Monument of Triumph update on June 9, 2026. Event weapons now come from a Monument of Triumph vendor, some event armor ornaments moved to Eververse for Bright Dust, and Bungie says its next major Destiny communication is targeted for February 2027.

Is Festival of the Lost or The Dawning happening in Destiny 2 in 2026?
No official edition is running. When Monument of Triumph launched on June 9, 2026, the official Destiny 2 account stated that Solstice, Festival of the Lost, The Dawning and Guardian Games have been retired. Bungie also confirmed, as reported by Forbes on May 26, 2026, that seasonal events would not switch to an automatic yearly rotation.
That means there was no in-game Festival of the Lost this October, and nothing Bungie has published so far points to an in-game Dawning in December 2026. If that changes, we will cover it here, but right now there is no date to plan around.
What was the Festival of the Lost 2026 people saw online?
The D2 Community Hub ran a fan-made Festival of the Lost on its website from October 13 to November 3, 2026, with daily missions, candy and an event pass. Its own page calls it a fan project, not an official Destiny event, and says no rewards are given in game. It was a nice nod to the community, but it did not change anything in your Destiny 2 account.
Where did seasonal event rewards go?
Bungie did not simply delete event loot. According to its June 9 announcement, a collection of weapon rewards from the retired events can be earned through a Monument of Triumph vendor. The Destiny 2 community wiki lists four Monument vendors, called Tenets of Bravery, Devotion, Sacrifice and Death, that sell ornaments, ships, sparrows, shaders, emotes, weapon engrams and several Exotic weapons.
- Weapons: earned from engrams at the Monument of Triumph vendor.
- Armor ornaments: some event armor sets are now sold in Eververse for Bright Dust.
- Currency: Monument vendors use Legendary Marks, earned only from Monument Triumphs. The community wiki reports no weekly cap and no seasonal reset.
Can I still finish event titles and seals?
Bungie has not published a detailed list of which event Triumphs remain completable after the retirement, and we could not verify the status of every event seal. If you are chasing an older event title, check its Triumph progress in your Collections and Triumphs tabs before spending time on it.
Is Bungie planning any new events?
Bungie's October 29, 2026 Community Update, a Q and A between community lead Dylan Gafner and Head of Product Josh Deane, described three future anchors for Destiny. One of them is a Destiny 2 Celebration, described as something beyond Monument of Triumph for the community. Bungie did not give a date or a format. Deane also said Bungie will not make a Destiny announcement at The Game Awards this year and that the next major communication is targeted for February 2027.
Deane stressed that these plans are intentions and may change. We would treat the Celebration as unconfirmed until Bungie shares details.
What still rotates without events?
The game is still online and still has a weekly rhythm. Weekly featured raids and dungeons continue, Iron Banner runs one week out of every four, and Trials of Osiris runs on weekends when Iron Banner is not active, according to the community wiki. Forbes also reported that Heavy Metal returns periodically. Planning your week around these rotations is now the main way to target loot.
What this means for your carries
With no events to chase, most players are spending their time on raids, dungeons, Trials and Monument Triumphs. That is where self-play carries and coaching help most. Browse every service in our full catalog, plan your title goals with the titles and seals guide, and line up Exotic hunts with the Exotic and catalyst guide. Our weekly reset planner shows how to use featured rotations.
Every Guardian Sherpa carry is self-play: you play on your own account alongside our team, and we never ask for your password. Read more on our account safety page, or try a coaching session if you would rather learn the content yourself.
