Destiny 2 Roadmap: Celebration, Legacy and Redacted Explained

Cosmic star map on violet parchment with three gold beacons, one blacked out, linked by a glowing path

Bungie's current Destiny roadmap, shared on October 29, 2026, rests on three anchors: a Destiny 2 Celebration beyond Monument of Triumph, a Destiny Legacy effort to serve the whole experience where you play today, and a third project still marked Redacted. Bungie has said not to expect a Destiny announcement at The Game Awards this year, and it plans a new progress update in February 2027.

What was Bungie's original Destiny 2 roadmap?

The Year of Prophecy began with The Edge of Fate on July 15, 2025, followed by the Ash and Iron update in September 2025 and Renegades, a Star Wars-inspired expansion made with Lucasfilm, on December 2, 2025. A mid-season update called Shadow and Order was planned for March 2026.

That plan changed. Dexerto reported that Shadow and Order was delayed in February 2026 and later cancelled, with its timing replaced by Monument of Triumph on June 9, 2026. The next expansions, Shattered Cycle and The Alchemist, are no longer in development.

Why did Destiny 2 development end?

On May 21, 2026, Bungie announced that Monument of Triumph would be the final live-service content update, while the game would stay online and playable. Coverage later reported that Bungie confirmed layoffs on June 25, 2026, and Game Developer reported that almost 300 employees working on Destiny 2 were let go. Bungie has also said Marathon did not reach as many players as hoped.

What are Celebration, Legacy and Redacted?

In its October 29, 2026 community update, Bungie named three anchors for Destiny's future, separate from the unvaulting first pass of older campaigns. Here is what each one means, based only on what Bungie has said so far.

Celebration

Bungie says Destiny 2 needs a celebration beyond Monument of Triumph, bringing new updates for current players. PC Gamer reported that a new progress update for Celebration is expected in February 2027. Details are still to come.

Legacy

Legacy is about serving the whole Destiny experience where you play today, with more information expected in early 2027. Bungie has not named a game, platform or format for it. PC Gamer suggested the wording could mean the original Destiny coming to PC, but Bungie has not confirmed that, so treat it as speculation.

Redacted

The third anchor has no public details and no timing. TheSixthAxis noted a teaser line in the update that reads like a message saying We're back. Rumors about a Destiny 3 are not confirmed by Bungie.

Will Bungie reveal anything at The Game Awards 2026?

No. Inven Global quoted Josh Deane saying not to expect a Destiny announcement at the TGAs this year. The next scheduled check-in is the February 2027 progress update. Bungie also warned, in PC Gamer's report, that some things are subject to change in success or failure.

What is happening in Destiny 2 right now?

The game is in maintenance mode, but the weekly reset still runs every Tuesday at 9 AM Pacific. For the week of November 3, 2026, Kyber's Corner lists Crota's End and Vault of Glass as featured raids and The Sunless Cell as the Grandmaster Nightfall. The same source reports a Bungie Foundation fundraiser, the Lightkeeper Collection Vol. 1, running until November 30, 2026.

What this means for your carries

That makes now a sensible time to finish goals you set aside. Browse all services, and check our raid carry guide, Trials of Osiris carry guide, Grandmaster Nightfall guide and weekly reset planner.

Every Guardian Sherpa carry is self-play. You play on your own account with our team, and we never ask for your password. See our account safety page for details. Loot is random, so no carry guarantees a specific drop.
